117 E Government St., Pensacola, FL 32501

The Hilton-Green Research Room is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm! To best serve our patrons, appointments are still required at this time.

Please complete the form below with your research topic so that staff can prepare. You will be contacted by HParchives@uwf.edu to schedule your appointment.

The in-person research fee is also admission to Historic Pensacola and can be purchased online.  Additional fees apply for photocopies, scans, commercial use, and email requests. Please see our Updated Archives Fee Schedule for more information.

The Hilton-Green Research Room maintains an extensive collection of archival materials available to the public for research. The archives contain over 100,000 images that include street scenes, buildings, residences, fortifications, ships, industries, festivals, portraits, and other images of local interest. Other holdings include Pensacola city directories dating back to 1885, telephone books, cemetery records, records of the Spanish Land Grants, extensive files of local newspaper clippings, microfilm of early Pensacola newspapers, and bound copies of the Pensacola Gazette from 1834-1854, census records, and Sanborn® Fire Insurance Maps. Our Lelia Abercrombie Historical Reference Library contains many out of print and hard to find volumes about Northwest Florida. The archives also houses a variety of scrapbooks, family correspondence, records from local organizations, business records and correspondence. See our Public Access Site for some of our public accessed items.

Some of our holdings can be found under the UWF Historic Trust icon at the UWF Institutional Repository web page.

The Lelia Abercrombie Historical Reference Library was named for the woman who was director of the Pensacola Historical Society for many years. The Hilton-Green Research Room was named in honor of Henry Hilton-Green Jr., who bequeathed the majority of the money used in the renovations.

Due to staffing limitations and the advance preparation necessary to provide access to most of the museum's collections, we ask that researchers fill out the form below to schedule an appointment. This allows us to determine what collections are needed, assure that they will be available, and explain any restrictions that may apply.

Please see our Archives Rules 2023 for our Rules and Procedures to prepare for your research appointment. We do not allow food or drink, ink pens, folders/binders, heavy jackets, briefcases, bags, purses, or any personal electronic equipment such as computers, cameras, phones, etc.

For those who are interested in donating items, we encourage you to fill out our Potential Donation Evaluation Form and a staff member will reach out to you.

If you have questions, please contact curatorial staff at 850-595-5985 ext.125 or HParchives@uwf.edu.
